When making high-technology substances such as thermally conductive pastes, high-viscosity adhesives, or ceramic slurries, producers must have a familiar headache: sticky viscous substances that stick to the mixer and do not mix evenly. Commonly used agitators leave as much as they can unblended on the vessel sides or form passages by the paste without actually mixing it. Being a leading company in mixing equipment, Shanghai Rumi Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. is well aware that these tasks with the high viscosity are more suitable to the double planetary mixer.
The Special Relations of Planetary Motion
The peculiarity of a double planetary mixer is its peculiar movement. It has two mixing blades, unlike one central agitator, but they not only spin along their respective axes, but also spin around the center of the mixing vessel along the same axis, which would be the same way the planets revolve around the sun.
1. No Dead Spots: This complicated orbit path makes sure that the blades are not still. They clean the vessel walls and bottom repeatedly lifting the sticky substance and folding it in the center. This gets rid of the dead zones where thick materials are likely to settle and not mixed.
2. Folding: This is mainly a folding movement, stretching, and dividing of the material. This is perfect when dealing with shear sensitive formulations e.g. some polymers or battery slurry where you want intense bulk movement without affecting the properties of the material.
Perfect Traits to address Adhesion
Combining textile materials that are sticky may result in loss and hard cleaning. The two planetary design is a direct response to the following problems:
1. Effective Wall Scraping: The proximity between the blades and vessel wall ensures that there is a constant scrap of the vessel wall. This maintains the surfaces of the heat transfer surfaces clean (when using a jacketed stainless steel reactor vessel) and makes sure that all material to be mixed is mixed, and not just adsorbed on the side.
2. Kneading Capability: In very thick pastes, the blades interlace with each other with very low clearance. This provides a powerful kneading and shearing action between the blades themselves and this is very effective in dispensing agglomerates in high-viscosity bases.
Plug and Play into Your Production Line
This is the mixer at Rumi, a part of a bigger and more efficient system. We have a great deal of experience with a double planetary mixer: it works especially well with other equipment provided by us as a single solution:
1. Feed Systems: It is fully compatible with our liquid and powder storage and batching systems, which means that with the use of this system, the vacuum may be used to add the raw materials to the mixer precisely and automatically.
2. Downstream Processing: The homogeneous air free paste is easily discharged into a filling machine or a mill after the mixing cycle has been completed in order to be refined further.
When the high-viscosity formulations are being difficult to work with, the mechanical simplicity and strong folding force of a double planetary mixer is a sure, scalable and efficient way to get the perfect mix each time.
