Pigment basket mill

Pigment basket mills are special appliances which meet those requirements. These machines assist in breaking large clumps of pigment into small, even particles. This makes them brighter, more uniform and easier to use in paints, inks and other products. At Rumi, we understand the importance of nailing color. Our pigment basket mill are designed with finishing in mind. Frequently, we have seen the astonished expression on artists’ faces who didn’t understand how much elbow grease goes into grinding pigments until they experience a mill that actually works to produce high quality paint. It’s not mixing as much as making, a product that looks pristine every time.

What Is a Pigment Basket Mill and How Does It Improve Color Dispersion?

The pigment basket mill is a wet grinding machine which integrate dispersing and grinding together, widely used in coatings, printing ink, dyestuff, color paste, production. The special basket rotates rapidly and crushes pigment lumps into the small particles that colors are easy to be dispersed. He tried to explain what it was like to mix sand into water. If the sand is large, then it sinks and you don’t get good mixing. But if you grind the sand to a powder, it flows together well. The pigment basket mill machine operates on the same principle. It gives pigments a helping hand in becoming so small that they float through liquids, like water or oil-based ink. That makes colors appear brighter and more even. Rumi’s pigment basket mills are designed with strong grinding bodies and structural elements, and so the stress at the floor level is even higher (2-3 times) as it dashes through all stages of the mill. Excessive rough grinding can burn the paint, or change its color. Too soft grinding leaves clumps. Our machines find the balance. Plus, the basket shape helps keep beads moving as it grinds pigment quickly and without overheating. Overheating can ruin the color or the glue. Customers regularly tell us how their colors mix better and last longer after they use Rumi’s mills. That means less waste and happier customers for them. The design also facilitates cleaning, so factories can switch colors in less time than is possible with long stops. In essence, the pigment basket mill is a simple two-grooved metal shaft in which an array of small no more than 0.5mm steel balls are vertically embedded down the length of the shaft and held in place by a screen stirrer located underneath.
